RD6

กข6

A sticky child of Hom Mali

The Rice Department applied gamma-ray mutation breeding to KDML105, and a glutinous mutant was released in 1977 as RD6, together with an earlier-maturing non-glutinous mutant, RD15. Like its parent it is photoperiod-sensitive and is grown once a year.

In a 2021 trial in north-east Thailand its brown grains measured about 7.0 × 2.4 mm in the field and its grain amylose was about 2 %; milled dimensions here are estimated from the long-grain class.
