Profile

In 1997 Bahía was one of the leading varieties of the Ebro delta, alongside Sénia and Tebre, all bred by IVIA's rice department; the same review notes that Bahía is cultivated in Italy under the name Padano and that Sénia superseded it for lodging resistance. The Valencia PDO specification gives an average raw-grain length of 5.6 mm, ratio 1.8 (width derived ≈ 3.1 mm) and 19.1% amylose.
