Varieties

Since the 2024 amendment of its regulation, the PDO admits Oryza sativa rice of the varieties Bahía, Bomba, Fonsa, Gleva, Guara, J. Sendra, Montsianell, Olesa and Tebre. J. Sendra, Guara and Olesa, plus the option to protect brown (husked) rice, were requested in 2018 and approved by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/942; before that the PDO covered only white rice. White rice must be of the Extra category and moisture may not exceed 15% at dispatch. Grain dimensions on this page are estimated.
