Origin and use

The WUR Potato Pedigree Database records Markies as a cross of Fianna and Agria by Dr. R.J. Mansholt's Veredelingsbedrijf BV, with 1997 as its year. Agrico now markets it as one of its "Agrico Originals".

Agrico's sheet gives oval-long, quite large tubers with yellow skin and light yellow flesh, a dry matter of 22.8 % and cooking type "floury / BC". It rates fries quality excellent and crisping quality good, and notes good storability and an even spread of dry matter in the tuber, which gives steady processing yields. Agrico says it is grown across Europe and beyond, especially in Western Europe.
