Kataribhog
কাটারিভোগ
A traditional aromatic rice of Dinajpur in northern Bangladesh, grown in the Aman (monsoon) season. Its milled grain is short and fairly slender, and it mills well. Kataribhog rice of Dinajpur received a Bangladeshi geographical indication certificate in 2021.

Grain and milling
In a 2025 study of seven local cultivars from the BRRI gene bank, Kataribhog's milled grain measured 5.02 mm by 1.77 mm, a length-to-breadth ratio of 2.84, and lengthened to 7.40 mm when cooked. Its milling outturn of 72.95 % was one of only two in the premium class. Amylose was 25.86 %, just into the high class; an earlier Dinajpur trial put all ten aromatic varieties it tested, Kataribhog included, at 23.5 to 24.7 %, which is intermediate. The difference may come from samples, seasons or methods.
That 2007 trial, run in the Aman season at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University in Dinajpur, grew two forms named Kataribhog (Deshi) and Kataribhog (Philippines). The Philippines form gave the highest yield of the ten varieties. The authors note that Kataribhog is preferred for its medium grain size.
