Chak-hao — editorial grain study, wholegrain, not to scale. Appearance alone does not establish variety or protected origin.

A family of black rices

The GI was applied for by the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) and granted in 2020; Chak-hao Poireiton and Chak-hao Amubi are its best-known varieties. A study of 22 Chak-hao landraces found amylose of only 3.4–6.97 %, grains mostly short to medium slender, and anthocyanin above 350 mg per 100 g in some genotypes. Dimensions here are estimated from the short-grain class.
