Origin and character
CFIA records Vivaldi as bred by P. and G. van der Zee and HZPC Holland BV at Metslawier in Friesland, from the cross TS 77-148 x Monalisa, in 1985. The WUR Potato Pedigree Database gives the breeder as Van der Zee and the year as 1998.
The tubers are oval, with smooth yellow skin, few shallow eyes and light yellow flesh. Specific gravity is medium to low and the cooked texture fairly firm, with little or no discoloration: very good for baking, boiling or steaming. It is moderately susceptible to late blight in the leaves and moderately resistant in the tubers.
