Latona
A round to oval yellow potato bred by G. and P. van der Zee at Leeuwarden from Jaerla x Nicola, crossed in 1981 and released in 1994. It cooks fairly firm and is good for boiling and baking.

Origin and character
CFIA records Latona as bred by G. and P. van der Zee of ZPC at Leeuwarden in 1981, from the early Dutch variety Jaerla crossed with the German salad potato Nicola. The WUR Potato Pedigree Database gives the same cross and 1994 as its year.
The tubers are round to oval, large and uniform, with yellow skin and light yellow flesh. Specific gravity is medium and the cooked texture fairly firm: good for baking and boiling. It resists bruising and stores well, but is susceptible to late blight in the foliage. It has been deregistered in Canada.
