Origin and character

Mondial was bred by D. Biemond B.V. from Spunta x SVP Ve 66-295. The WUR Potato Pedigree Database gives 1987 as its year.

CFIA describes a late, very high-yielding variety with oblong tubers, buff smooth skin, few shallow eyes and light yellow flesh. Dry matter is medium to low and the flesh slightly mealy, with only traces of discoloration after cooking; it is grown for fresh consumption. It resists drought and internal bruising, but is susceptible to late blight, leafroll and blackleg.
