Blonde d'Aquitaine
A large beef breed from south-western France, formed in 1962 by uniting three blond regional populations. Its coat ranges from light yellow to wheat beige. It calves easily for a heavy breed and gives a high meat yield with a fine grain, and it is now raised on five continents.

Three blond breeds become one
Interbev dates the breed to 1962, when three groups of blond cattle of south-western France were brought together: the Garonnais, the Quercy and the Blond des Pyrénées. The specification of the Bœuf de Bazas IGP describes the Garonnaise as a working breed of the Garonne valley and a founding branch of the Blonde d'Aquitaine.
Swiss herd-book figures give cows of 750 to 950 kg and bulls of 1,000 to 1,400 kg, with withers heights of 140 to 150 cm and 148 to 156 cm. The breed is described as late to medium in maturity, with a fine skeleton and a high share of meat in the carcass. Interbev notes the meat's tenderness and very fine grain.
